Kentucky Resident Scholarship/Grant Information

Kentucky Tuition Grant (KTG)

The Kentucky Tuition Grant (KTG) Program provides need-based grants to qualified Kentucky residents to attend the Commonwealth's independent colleges. Eligible institutions must be accredited by a regional accrediting association recognized by U.S. Department of Education and not be comprised solely of religious instruction.

The program is designed to assist students with the higher tuition charges at the independent colleges. Students must be full-time undergraduates enrolled in an associate or baccalaureate degree program and have no past due financial obligations to KHEAA or to any Title IV program. Credit hours attempted by correspondence or internet courses are not acceptable for grant enrollment purposes, except for courses taken through the Kentucky Virtual Campus. This grant has an aggregate limit of 250% of an annual award for an associate's degree and 450% of an annual award for a bachelor's degree. This means that full-time students at a semester school will use all their eligibility for an associate's degree in 2 1/2 years.

For the 2008-2009 academic year, KTG awards range from $200 to $3,000.

To apply, students must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You can obtain up to three paper copies of the FAFSA by calling the Federal Student Aid Information Center toll free at 800.433.3243 or you can apply online.

About gwendy

I am a single black mother of two children.I am enrolled in school full time with a 4.0 grade average. I am having a hard time going to school and working because we are all in school during the day, but I have no one to sit with them at night while I work in the evenings, so I am looking for grant money to pay off my balance at school, gas, rent and to pay off some of my medical bills. I don't know how to go about finding or applying for grants. I have been on websites that say you can get the information free ,then in the fine print you find out that they are charging you $50.00 a month. If there is anyone who can help me find the grants I'm looking for, without spending money I don't have,I would really appreciate it. Thank you Gwendy

Looking for financial assistance

According to my FASFA I make too much money to qualify for federal grants.  I'd really like to know how their so-called formula came out saying I make too much money!  I can barely pay all the bills each month.  I'm looking for information on scholarships, loans, or grants to continue my education.  I'm working on my bachelor's degree in operations management.  I have completed the core requirements and am now ready to begin classes in my area of concentration.  Unfortunately, I can no longer afford to go to school.  I have been working my way through college for the last 11 years.  I can never seem to qualify for any financial aid yet I don't have enough income left at the end of the month to put enough away for school.  It is my one dream to finish my degree and finally complete this long journey.  Please, can't someone help me?
